Abstracts
All abstracts and presentations are in English. The abstracts CD-ROM is in your Congress bag and contains:
- Free communications (oral and posters) accepted by the Abstracts Selection Committee
- Co-opted speakers abstracts (received by closing date of the CD-ROM production – July 2008)
- Sub-speciality sessions abstracts (received by closing date of the CD-ROM production – July 2008)
- Satellite symposia abstracts (received by closing date of the CD-ROM production – July 2008)
Companies and participants may copy material for their personal use; copying for sale or for any other commercial purpose is prohibited.
Access
Paris can easily be reached by plane, train or car, due to its location at the crossroads of Europe. It is served by two international airports (CDG and Orly) and a very convenient railway system. The shuttle buses from CDG airport arrive in front of the Palais des Congrès, which is also accessible through all Paris public transports.
Atm
An ATM (cash machine) is located on LEVEL A of the Palais des Congrès and several ones in the surrounding streets.
Catering facilities
Breaks and lunches are NOT included in the registration fees. Sandwiches and snacks can be purchased at the Congress Centre at all times. Several restaurants are located within the Congress Centre as well as in the surrounding area.
Cellular phones
Participants are kindly requested to turn off their mobile phones when entering the meeting rooms and in the posters areas.

Cloakroom
A cloakroom is located near the Congress Welcome Desk
(level 0,5).
Please make sure that no personal belongings are left after
closing each day. Opening hours are the same as the
Congress ones; cloakroom fee is at the participant’s expense.
City transportation
Metro
A fast and ever-developing means of transport, essential to the Parisian’s life, the metro is probably the best and quickest way to travel within the city.
Timetable: it operates from 5h30 to 0h30. Information about the Metro can be obtained from the RATP Website: www.ratp.com
Bus
Local bus service is also available. Although slower than the Metro or the RER at certain hours of the day (depending on the traffic), the RATP buses (green) are frequent from 8h00 am to 20h00. The services are more irregular after 20h00. The Noctambus service (for night-birds) operates during the night: 10 bus routes lead from the heart of Paris.
Taxi
Where can you find a taxi? At stations, airports and near main traffic thoroughfares in more than 470 taxi ranks. 14 900 taxis are in service in Paris. You can identify a free taxi by the light on its roof and hail it. There will already be an initial charge on the meter. It is customary to leave a tip of up to 10% of the total fare.
Cars
To reach the Palais des Congrès, exit the Boulevard Périphérique
(ring-road surrounding Paris) at the “Porte Maillot”.
The car park is under the Congress Center with direct access
to the meeting.
Bicycles
Paris provides you with an excellent Self Service “bike hire”
system available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Multi pick up and drop off location allows you to pick up
your bike from one service point and drop off to another.

Climate & Clothing
The weather in Paris in September is usually warm and sunny with daily temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C. Night temperatures may be milder between 12°C to 16°C.

Disabled persons access
A lift for disabled people is available AT EACH LEVEL on the Neuilly or Paris side of the Palais des Congrès. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact any of the EADV Welcome Staff.
Duplication, recording, photos
Photography, audio-taping, video-recording, digital taping
or any other form of duplication is strictly prohibited in the
session rooms and poster areas.
In the exhibition area, pictures or film are allowed; they are
reserved for the official Congress photographer AND with
the authorisation of the Organiser and concerned exhibitor.
Electricity
Electricity used in France is 220 Volts; its frequency is 50 Hz and the plugs have two male contact points.
Plan to bring a transformer for your electrical or electronic equipment using different voltage (ie. USA, Canada).

From Paris to the airports
Access to Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport (North of Paris), terminals 1 and 2:
- by RER Express train, from Châtelet or Gare du Nord Stations, line B
- by AIR FRANCE coach : departure beside the Palais des Congrès
Access to Orly airport (South of Paris), terminals West and South:
- from Denfert Rochereau : by RER Express train, line B or by Orly Bus
- by AIR FRANCE coach : departure from Invalides Station
Future meetings
Literature presenting future meetings of interest to the Congress participants is displayed on the Future Meetings Table located within the exhibition area (level 1), after permission by the organiser.
Information desk
On level 0 of the Palais des Congrès, an EADV PARIS 2008 information desk is at your disposal to provide you with information on the Congress and on Paris.
Internet access
The Congress has made available to the participants, two
cyber centres as well as some WIFI hot spots; the cyber centres
are located on level 1 and on level 3 and they are open during
the entire duration of the Congress. WIFI hot spots are located
on levels 1/2/3; follow signage to identify these areas. Access
to the cyber centres and wireless are free of charge.
Lost and found
Lost items should be returned to the Congress Welcome Desk (level 0 – On-Site Registrations). Should you loose anything, please report to this desk for assistance.

Meeting rooms
All meetings rooms for EADV PARIS 2008 are located in the Palais des Congrès de Paris and levels 1/2/3 and 0,5 for the Grand Amphitheatre. Please refer to floor plans starting on page 26 for orientation.
Messsages
Participants will be able to leave or receive messages at message centres located on levels 1 and 3, within the cyber areas.

Posters
Upon arrival, after having collected your badge from the
Congress Welcome desk, please report to one of the POSTER
WELCOME DESKS where you are provided with the
instructions as to the exact location of your poster.
The POSTER WELCOME DESKS are located at the entrance
of NEUILLY HALL and PARIS HALL on LEVEL 1.
Poster areas are located on LEVEL 1 and distributed in 3
connected sections:
- NEUILLY HALL
- PARIS HALL
- TERNES HALL
There is 1 POSTER SESSION only: your poster is therefore to be exhibited for the whole duration of the Congress.
Timetable:
- Poster installation: on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Thursday, September 18th, 2008 from 7:00 am to 8:30 am AT THE LATEST
- Poster display: until 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 20th, 2008 (3 days presentation).
- Poster should then be removed on Saturday, September 20th, 2008 in the late afternoon from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm latest.
The organisers are not responsible for loss or damage to those posters which are not removed by authors within the times of dismantling as indicated above. Posters not removed by their authors at the stated time, will be automatically destroyed.
Press
● Press registration
The Media Welcome Desk is located on level 0. All
journalists should pickup their badges at the Media
Welcome Desk prior to accessing the EADV Congress. Only
journalists who bring an international press card or official
editorial assignment will receive a press badge.
● Press Conferences
The two EADV Press conferences are held in room 134M /
135M located on the mezzanine of level 1:
- French speaking press conference on Thursday, 18th September 2008, Palais des Congrès de Paris, 1.00 pm
- English speaking press conference on Friday, 19th
September 2008, Palais des Congrès de Paris, 2.00 pm
● Press Centre
The EADV Press Office is located in room 224M/225M
located on the mezzanine of level 2 and open at the
following times :
- Thursday, 18th September: 8.30 am to 6.00 pm
- Friday, 19th September: 8.30 am to 6.00 pm
- Saturday, 20th September: 8:30 am to 3.00 pm
Smoking policy
Please note that smoking is prohibited by law within the Congress premises.
Speakers preview room & scientific secretariat
In order to match with the most recent technology, EACH ROOM is equipped with a SINGLE Video-projector (LCD for computer assisted presentations, ie. PowerPoint).
For the general organisation, after having pick-up his badge
at the Welcome desk, each speaker should go to the:
PRE-VIEW ROOM, located on level 2, Room 241.
This room is open from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm every day of the
Congress.
All presentations must be in English.
Each speaker should also verify in the final programme that the name of the room and the time of his session have not changed. The Scientific Secretariat, also located in Room 241 is at speakers and chairs disposal to manage the following:
- General schedule of the sessions
- Reservation and planning of last minutes small
meetings (board meetings, working parties, editorial
committees, etc…) - Reception of last minute texts or new text versions for
the oral presentation prepared for simultaneous interpretation
if any. - Making appointments with those responsible for the
scientific organisation.
Telephones
For international calls to France, dial the international code followed by 33 and the correspondent’s number (without the 0).
On the other hand, to call within France, dial the 0.
To call abroad from France, dial 00 for international.
Train
For participants traveling within France to Paris by train on the occasion of the congress, special fares may be obtained with SNCF (French Railway Network). Please request the congress office for the appropriate discount coupon by ticking the the appropriate box on the hardcopy or online registration form. |

Visas & Passports
Every person entering France should be in possession of a valid passport and/or identification card (except for members of the Euro zone). Some countries require a visa.
